Lucknow: At least three people, including a 7-year-old girl, were killed after a lightning strike triggered a devastating fire in Saraiya Chalakapur village in Sitapur on Sunday.According to officials, lightning struck a house amid sudden weather changes, sparking a blaze that quickly spread to nearby homes. The fire soon took a massive form, engulfing several houses and causing chaos as flames spread rapidly across the densely packed settlement.The deceased have been identified as Phoolmati, wife of Shatrudhan; her 60-year-old mother, Yadura, wife of Bhagwati Prasad and a resident of Baddoopur in Barabanki; and 7-year-old Mahi, daughter of Khunkhun, who succumbed to severe burn injuries during treatment.Eyewitnesses said villagers raised an alarm and rushed to evacuate families as the fire spread, while others attempted to control the flames using limited resources. Despite their efforts, multiple houses were gutted before the fire could be contained.Local MLA Asha Maurya directed police, fire brigade and health officials to immediately reach the spot and carry out relief and rescue operations. Fire brigade teams managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts.Officials have assured compensation and all possible assistance to the affected families.
