LUCKNOW: Two men working on a Jal Jeevan Mission water tank project were found dead under suspicious circumstances near a roadside field in Hardoi district on Thursday.According to police, the Dial 112 control room received information around 11 am that two bodies were lying near the roadside on the Atrauli route between Takiya and Atamau villages, about 500 metres from an under-construction Jal Jeevan Mission water tank in the Sandila police station area.Senior police officers and local police teams reached the spot along with a forensic team and conducted a detailed inspection of the crime scene.The deceased were identified as Arun Chaurasia, 26, son of Jaiprakash Chaurasia from Renso village under Kachhauna police station, and Abhishek Chaurasia, 27, son of Shivram Chaurasia from Gohania village in the same police station area. Both were working at the under-construction water tank project.Arun was employed as a helper, while Abhishek, also known as Bablu, worked as a pickup vehicle driver at the site. He was currently living in Lucknow’s Faizullaganj area.Local residents said the bodies were spotted around 10.30 am near a roadside field between Atamau and Takiya villages. One body was found lying in the open field, while the other was found face down in muddy ground.Police said both victims had visible injuries on their heads and faces. Arun also had a deep injury near his eye. The exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination.While some locals suspected that the two men may have been shot, police said they have not confirmed this and are investigating all possible angles.The forensic team collected evidence from the spot, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem after completion of legal formalities.Hardoi Superintendent of Police Ashok Meena said three investigation teams, led by the Sandila Circle Officer and the Additional Superintendent of Police (East), have been formed to solve the case.Police said they are examining all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances leading to the deaths and the identity of those responsible. Further legal action is underway.
