Seeking to increase the Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) capacity to 5,000 mw from 700 mw, the Centre Friday cleared a Rs 5,070 crore scheme to push development of floating solar projects along with storage set-ups with a minimum capacity of 2 hours. These aim to utilise existing water reservoirs to set up solar plants, helping eliminating competition for land resources. National Institute of Solar Energy declared Maharashtra (16.3 gw) has the highest FSPV potential, which followed by Madhya Pradesh (14.9 gw), and Karnataka (13.7 gw). TNN
