Lucknow: A woman allegedly attempted self-immolation near the barricading at Sector-1 on Lok Bhawan Road in the Hazratganj area on Friday afternoon.The incident took place around 1 pm when the woman reached the spot and poured a flammable substance on herself. Personnel of the anti-self-immolation squad deployed in the area acted swiftly and prevented her from setting herself ablaze. She was taken into custody and later handed over to the Manaknagar police for further action.“The woman alleged that she was embroiled in a land dispute with her neighbour, accusing him of encroaching upon her property. She alleged that she and her family received threats when they objected to the alleged encroachment,” said Hazratganj SHO Vikram Singh.Police said the matter is being examined. Officials said the woman is being provided necessary assistance.
