Lucknow: A Class XI student was killed and her mother injured after a thatched hut collapsed during heavy rainfall in the Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow on Thursday, trapping the family beneath the debris.The incident occurred in Gadiyana village, where Gokul Prasad, a watchman attached to the local police station, was staying with his family in a thatched hut. According to police, continuous rainfall weakened the structure, which suddenly caved in, burying Gokul Prasad, his wife Binda Dei and their daughter Rinki under the rubble.While Binda Dei managed to crawl out of the collapsed hut, Gokul Prasad and Rinki remained trapped. Hearing their cries for help, villagers rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After nearly an hour of efforts, they removed the debris and pulled both victims out.Rinki, a Class XI student, was immediately taken for medical assistance but was declared dead. Gokul Prasad survived the incident, while Binda Dei sustained injuries.The tragic incident has left the bereaved family devastated and cast a pall of gloom over the village.
