Lucknow: UP State Road Transport Corporation will operate additional buses on routes to meet higher demand on Holi from Feb 28 to Mar 9. The frequency of buses will also be increased.More buses will operate from Delhi to eastern UP. Kanpur and Lucknow will also get extra buses.Transport minister Dayashankar Singh asked to press into service maximum buses operated by the corporation. Every bus will have an electronic ticketing machine. “Two drivers should be present in every long-distance bus,” said the minister.Field officers of transport department will ensure strict enforcement of road safety regulations to control road accidents. Special checks will be done on all main routes of the state and on national and state highways.Breathalyser tests will be done regularly on drivers. In case a bus is found violating safety norms, alternate modes of transport should be arranged for passengers, said the minister. Besides, arrangements for clean and hygienic food and water will be made for passengers at bus stations and parking sites on the routes in coordination with the district administration. There will be special drives to check and restrict gas cylinders or inflammable substances being carried on buses.
