Lucknow: Three people, including a Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) sanitation worker, were injured in separate stray dog attacks across the city over the past two days, raising fresh concerns over the worsening stray dog menace.A day after a woman sanitation worker was bitten by a stray dog in Jankipuram Extension, two more residents were attacked by stray dogs in Gomtinagar’s Vibhav Khand on Thursday.In the latest incidents, businessman Anil Upadhyay and domestic help Sarita were chased and bitten by stray dogs in Vibhav Khand-3. Following complaints, an LMC team reached the area on Thursday to capture the aggressive dogs. However, some local residents opposed the drive, claiming they would take responsibility for the animals and any future attacks involving them.Residents alleged that three or four aggressive stray dogs regularly attack pedestrians, delivery personnel, domestic workers and other locals despite repeated complaints to the civic body. They demanded immediate action to prevent further attacks.On Wednesday morning, 21-year-old Priyanka, a sanitation worker from Barabanki, was bitten while sweeping a road in Sector 1 of Jankipuram Extension around 9.30 am. Hearing her cries for help, passersby rushed to her rescue and took her to a nearby hospital, where she received first aid.Animal welfare officials said aggressive or sick stray dogs would be identified and appropriate action taken.More than a dozen incidents of stray dog attacks on people have been reported in the city over the past two months.
