Lucknow: Two siblings were killed and three other children injured after a 40-foot-long boundary wall of a house collapsed on them while they were playing outside in a village in Barabanki district on Thursday evening.The incident occurred in Gulchappa Kala village under the Dariyabad police station limits. According to officials, the nearly seven-foot-high wall of a locked house belonging to Kaleem Sheikh suddenly collapsed, burying five children under the debris.The victims were identified as Abu Huzaifa (9), his sister Hazira Bano (11), their cousin Abu Hassan (6), and two other children, Sanaya (3) and Mohammad Adnan (5).Hearing the children’s cries, villagers rushed to the spot and removed the rubble before shifting all five to the community health centre (CHC). Doctors declared Abu Huzaifa and Hazira Bano dead during treatment, while the remaining three children sustained injuries and are undergoing medical care. Family members said the siblings had not gone to school on Thursday and were playing outside their home when the tragedy struck.The incident has compounded the family’s grief. Abu Huzaifa had undergone a life-saving heart surgery at Lucknow’s Lari Cardiology Institute a year ago with financial assistance from the CM’s relief fund. The family had also lost another son to illness five years earlier.DM Ishan Pratap Singh directed Ramnagar SDM Brijendra Upadhyay to facilitate the bereaved family in receiving financial assistance from the state disaster response fund. The SDM said compensation would be released after completion of the post-mortem examination and other formalities.
