Lucknow: Prompt action by Barabanki Police following an alert from Meta helped save the life of a 20-year-old man who had posted a suicide-related video on Instagram amid emotional distress following a family dispute.The incident took place on Aug 10 when the man posted a video from near a canal saying that he was going to die by suicide. The alert was received by the social media centre of the Uttar Pradesh Police headquarters through an email from Meta at 6:23 pm.Police immediately used the mobile number provided in the alert to trace the man’s location and informed cops Barabanki.A team from Masauli police station reached the location within seven minutes.Police found the man sitting near the canal in an extremely distressed state. The officers immediately moved him away from the canal, spoke to him and brought him home safely.His family was informed about the Instagram post and the youth was counselled by the police. He told police that he worked as a labourer and had been under severe emotional stress following a dispute with his family.After counselling, he assured the police and his family that he would not take such a step in future.
