Lucknow: A court in UP’s Maharajganj has rejected the bail application of foreign national Jordan Brown, who was arrested near the Sonauli international border while attempting to cross into Nepal without valid travel documents. Brown, who had initially claimed to be a US citizen and a former US navy seal, turned out to be a London citizen.Special sessions judge Abid Shamim rejected his bail on Wednesday saying that the matter involved national security concerns.The next hearing in the case is on Aug 19.The bail plea was initially filed before the District Judge’s court who transferred it to the sessions court (SC/ST).Ashutosh Pandey, appointed by the District Legal Services Authority, represented Brown.Brown was detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal on July 11 near international border in Sonauli area of Maharajganj and later handed over to Sonauli police.An FIR was subsequently registered against him under provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.With the SC/ST court rejecting the bail plea, the main proceedings in the case will continue before the competent court.
