Patiala: The false ceiling of a hall at Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Patiala, a top centre of Sports Authority of India, collapsed during an Independence Day function on Saturday, injuring three students, reports Bharat Khanna.Videos of the cave-in show members of the audience scrambling to safety.“No one sustained any major injury. The safety…of athletes, trainees, staff and visitors at NIS remain the institution’s highest priority,” NIS director Sumit Miglani said. Civil Lines SHO said no one had filed any police complaint. NIS, housed in the erstwhile palace of Patiala Maharaja, has produced generations of national coaches and athletes.
