Lucknow: Ahead of Holi, the health department has directed all govt and private hospitals to keep 24-hour emergency services operational.The chief medical officer has issued instructions to ensure prompt treatment in case of festival-related incidents.Around 190 beds have been reserved in govt hospitals for emergencies.At King George’s Medical University, 30 beds have been reserved while 20 beds have been kept aside at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences. Chief medical superintendent at KGMU Trauma Centre Dr Premraj Singh said emergency patients received free treatment for the first 24 hours.At least 50 beds have been set aside at Balrampur Hospital. Chief medical superintendent Dr Himanshu Chaturvedi said adequate medicines were available, and pathology and radiology tests were provided in emergency.At Lok Bandhu Raj Narain Hospital, 20 beds have been reserved. Medical superintendent Dr Ajay Shankar Tripathi said oxygen and essential medicines had been kept in stock. Specialists from dermatology, orthopaedics, general surgery and medicine departments will remain on call till March 5.At Ram Sagar Mishra Hospital in Bakshi-ka-Talab, 30 beds have been earmarked for patients from rural areas and Sitapur Road. CMS Dr VK Sharma said specialists in medicine, general surgery, ophthalmology and orthopaedics had been deployed. Ten beds have been kept ready at the Joint Hospital in Thakurganj, while Civil Hospital has reserved 30 beds.Ambulance services have been placed on alert. Operated by EMRI Green Health Services, 108 and 102 ambulances were stationed near accident-prone areas and key locations.President of EMRI Green Health Services, TVSK Reddy, said vehicles were equipped with oxygen, medicines and necessary equipment to handle emergencies.People may dial 108 for accidents, burns, heart or breathing issues, skin reactions and other emergencies. The 102 service assists pregnant women and children up to two years. Across Uttar Pradesh, 2,200 ambulances under 108 and 2,270 under 102 are operational.
