Lucknow: Lucknow Police on Monday arrested a driver who was accused of stealing Rs 10 lakh cash and jewellery from his employer’s house on the night of Feb-24-25 in the Sushant Golf City area.The accused, Rajendra Sharma (44) was arrested from the Jawaharnagar locality, Gajraula in Amroha district, where he was living on a rented accomodation with the stolen property, the police said.On Feb 27, Nilesh Singh, resident of Sarsanwa under Sushant Golf City police, lodged a complaint against his driver, whom he accused of breaking his locker and almirah at his residence and fleeing away with cash and jewellery, while the family was away. “Based on the complaint, an FIR was lodged, and the police arrested the accused on Mar 2,” additional deputy commissioner of police, Vasanath Rallapalli said.During interrogation, Sharma allegedly confessed to committing the theft out of greed. He revealed that he hid the stolen property in a black backpack at his rented house. Acting on his disclosure, police recovered the entire stolen property, including ₹10 lakh in cash and a large quantity of gold and silver jewellery.The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.DCP Agarwal announced ₹25,000 to the team for the workout and recovery of all valuables.
