Lucknow: Two blocks of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district have been awarded by the NITI Aayog for the development work undertaken there by the govt under the Aspirational Block Programme (ASP). Dhaurara block was rewarded with the gold medal while the Bankeganj block secured the bronze medal. The two blocks were surveyed between July and Sept 2024 under the ‘Sampurnata Abhiyan’. Dhaurahara block secured the gold medal with 100% saturation in six indicators. This led to better reach of health services, concrete initiatives for nutrition improvement, and direct access to agricultural schemes. The Bankeganj block achieved 100% saturation on three key indicators under ‘Health and Nutrition’, ‘Agriculture and Allied Services’, and ‘Social Development’ under the ASP.Lakhimpur Kheri district magistrate, Durga Shakti Nagpal, received the medals and a certificate of appreciation for the performance. She attributed the achievement to ground-level monitoring, better coordination among departments, and achieving targets within the set timeframe.
