Lucknow: A 7-year-old boy who was allegedly assaulted by a teenager during Holi celebrations in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow died while undergoing treatment on Friday. Police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the accused juvenile and took him into custody for questioning. The victim lived with his parents and siblings in a village in Mohanlalganj.He was playing Holi outside his house when a local 13-year-old boy came and applied colours on him. The minor boy got annoyed and hit the teenager with a stone, police said.Enraged by the act, the teenager allegedly assaulted the child. According to the complaint, the accused repeatedly kicked the seven-year-old in the chest and stomach before fleeing.Family members admitted the injured boy to a private hospital where he received primary treatment. After his condition became stable, the family brought him back home. However, his condition deteriorated again on Thursday afternoon and he was admitted to the KGMU trauma centre where he died on Friday. Based on a written complaint filed by the victim’s mother, police registered a case against the teenager under the Sections of culpable homicide.Inspector BK Tripathi of Mohanlalganj police station said the accused juvenile is being questioned and further legal action will be taken based on the investigation and postmortem report.
