Lucknow: To strengthen medical research, academic collaboration and policy dialogue in healthcare, a dedicated cell of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) was open on SGPGIMS campus on Saturday. NAMS is a national body that promotes excellence in biomedical sciences and supports research, policy development and academic recognition in medicine.SGPGI officials said the initiative will help expand academic programmes, continuing medical education activities and collaborative research with medical institutions across UP.Lung diseases expert Prof Rajendra Prasad spoke about clinical interpretation of chest X-rays, underlining their role in diagnosing respiratory and cardiac conditions. SGPGI director Prof RK Dhiman said the institute will work with NAMS to develop task forces aimed at reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Officials said the cell will focus on leadership development among faculty and medical students, while promoting training, research and academic networking.The cell is expected to support teaching and knowledge sharing across more than 85 medical colleges in UP through a hub-and-spoke model led by the institute, they added.
