A total of 530 nominations were received for awards in various categories. After detailed evaluation, 14 women and girls were selected for felicitation.Presenting certificates of merit to awardees, Meenakshi Singh said the recognition of these women on International Women’s Day was a matter of immense pride for the entire UP Police family.She emphasised that their accomplishments represent not only personal milestones but also powerful inspirations for society.“The felicitation ceremony is aligned with the theme of International Women’s Day 2026 — “Give To Gain.” The theme highlights the belief that investing in women through knowledge, opportunities, support, and dignity ultimately strengthens society,” she said.The awardees included motorcycle vlogger and digital creator Swati Rojha of Shamli; entrepreneur Khushboo Singh of Maharajganj; Bhavana Chaudhary, inspector in the air wing of BSF; sisters Apurva and Apurvi from Bulandshahr for initiative to revive interest in Sanskrit through social media campaign ‘Ek Kadam Sanskrit Ki Ore’; Shreya Singh of Agra for sports (karate); artist Neha Singh of Gorakhpur for achievements in visual arts and writing; and Nighat for her work in food preservation science and social awareness programmes.Scientist Padmini Mishra, educationist Sadhana, medical officer Dr Nirima Gautam, writer Akanksha Prajapati, were other awardees.Two inspiring women, Hemlata Yadav and Deepti Yadav, were honoured for organ donation.Several members of Vaama Saarthi, including vice-president Brijrani Swarnkar, attended the event.
