Lucknow: A 23-year-old BSc student allegedly died by suicide after being scolded by his grandfather for watching India-New Zealand T-20 final on his mobile phone in Gonda district on Sunday night. Police said they are probing the circumstances leading to his death.According to family members, Mohit Chaubey, a second-year BSc (agriculture) student, was watching the match when his grandfather reprimanded and asked him to focus on his studies. He also took away the mobile.Police said Mohit appeared upset and quietly went to the first floor of the house. After some time, a member of the family found him unresponsive on the roof. Student counsellors emphasized the importance of communication with adolescents, noting that emotional distress over small issues can sometimes lead to extreme action if not addressed with support and understanding within families. tnn
