Lucknow: A new idea to treat weak bones (osteoporosis), obesity and Alzheimer’s was discussed at KGMU on Thursday. Prof Mone Zaidi of Mount Sinai, US, explained that a hormone called follicle-stimulating hormone, known for its role in reproduction, may also affect bones, body fat and brain health. Medicines that block this hormone may help treat these diseases in the future, he said. Around 150 faculty members, resident doctors and MBBS students attended the event. Prof K K Sawlani of medicine department, KGMU, spoke on importance of the oration.
