Lucknow: A dance drama titled ‘Nritya’ was staged by the UP culture department and Yayavar Rangmandal at Rai Umanath Bali Auditorium on Thursday.The drama was prepared under the direction of Puneet Mittal during a 45-day dance theatre workshop. ‘Nritya’ was an Indo-contemporary dance theatre production that explored the cycle of life, struggle and balance in nature through movement and physical expression.The performance had no dialogue, and the narrative was carried through rhythmic gestures, dance and stage action. The story opened with birth of water from melting ice, leading to the creation of life.Fish, deer and hawk appeared as symbols of different forms of existence in nature. As the performance progressed, relationships among these beings brought out love, fear, beauty and conflict.The drama focused on how all living beings are linked to one another. Hunger, fear and survival led to struggle and death, but death was shown not as an end, but as transformation.
