Lucknow: The UP anti-corruption organisation on Thursday registered an FIR against a police constable posted in the city on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, following an open inquiry.According to officials, the case was registered against Rahul Kumar Shukla, posted as a constable driver at BBD police station under the Lucknow police commissionerate.The FIR was lodged on the basis of an investigation conducted by the anti-corruption organisation after an order issued by the office of the director general of police, UP. Investigators found that Shukla was appointed in the police department on Apr 26, 2003, as a constable driver. A specific “check period” was determined to analyse his income and expenditure, during which Shukla’s total legitimate income amounted to Rs 35,73,314.However, during the same period, his total expenditure was found to be Rs 68,26,496.34.Based on the findings, a case was registered under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended by the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.Officials said the investigation in the case will now be carried out by the anti-corruption organisation’s Lucknow unit.The FIR was filed on the complaint of investigating officer, inspector Vakil Pandey.
