Jhansi: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday accused the Congress of “spreading fear” over the possibility of a fuel crisis amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, asserting that there was no shortage of fuel or LPG.Maurya said Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were “creating unnecessary panic” despite a clear statement from the Union petroleum minister that fuel supplies remained normal. “Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy, while ships of several countries were stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, Indian vessels were moving without disruption,” he said at a review meeting with party workers in Jhansi. He added that India was emerging as “a global power” under Modi’s leadership. After the meeting, Maurya left for Lalitpur, where he attended multiple public events, including the Saras Mela. He praised the local administration for the “well-organised” fair and directed officials to procure required items from women self-help groups (SHGs) to boost their income. “All SHG members will become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and ‘Crorepati Didis’, and many will eventually become ‘Arabpati Didis’,” he said. Maurya claimed the BJP was set to form govts in UP and Assam for the third consecutive time, and also expressed confidence about winning West Bengal. In Kerala, he said, the party would “perform in an outstanding manner”. Responding to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s comment about PDA posing a strong challenge in 2027, Maurya alleged that the SP was engaged in “Muslim vote polarisation” and accused the party of ignoring marginalised communities during its tenure. “Their PDA is actually the ‘power of Dimple and Akhilesh’,” he said, adding that the SP would be in an even weaker position in 2027 than in 2017, when it won 47 seats. Instructions to party workers In Jhansi, Maurya asked BJP workers to ensure all state government welfare schemes reached intended beneficiaries and to maintain continuous monitoring.
