Lucknow: A 10-day Lucknow Book Fair was inaugurated by state minister for higher education Yogendra Upadhyay at Ravindralaya on Thursday.Describing books as “friends, guides and gurus”, Upadhyay said the fair brings knowledge and science together under one roof and urged the department to encourage student participation. He said that while course books provide factual knowledge, reading novels and other genres is important for personality development and expanding the knowledge of young people”.The fair will continue till March 22 and remain open daily from 11am to 9pm. Entry is free. This year’s fair is being organised on the theme “Vision-2047”, with a focus on “Developed India, Developed State”. Fair director Aakarsh Chandel said new genres available this year include Dalit literature, spiritual literature, and self-help books.
