Lucknow: While the mercury is gradually increasing, the cooking stove is slowly running out of gas in many households in Lucknow. With not much let up in LPG cylinder refill crunch, citizens continue to stand in long queues at gas agencies, braving the summer sun and the simmering crisis. On Saturday, it was a similar sight — multiple queues outside gas agencies across the city as delayed deliveries forced consumers to wait for hours with empty cylinders in the hope of getting the refill. Some got lucky, some didn’t.At Vikasnagar Mini Stadium, where a temporary distribution point has been set up, Rakesh Mishra waited for nearly four hours to get his refill.“I had booked the cylinder two days ago but it was not delivered. I have diabetes and high blood pressure, yet I stood here for hours because there is no certainty about delivery,” he said. His experience mirrors similar delivery delays reported from Rajajipuram, Telibagh, Lalkuan, Lalbagh and Sadar.Residents said despite booking refills through phone or online systems, home delivery remained unclear, compelling them to visit agency godowns or follow distribution vehicles. In Rajajipuram, several residents rushed to refill trucks instead of waiting for home delivery. Ram Chander said he went to the Saraswati Gas Agency’s truck at MIS Crossing after waiting three days for his cylinder. Many consumers also visited agencies to obtain booking receipts so they could pick up refills directly. Others stood in queues to complete KYC formalities required by agencies.Reshma Bano of Rajajipuram said her son booked the refill through IVRS but visited the agency to get the receipt.“The booking was done on the phone, but we were not sure when the delivery would happen,” she said.At Lajpatnagar, Aman Usmani said residents had little option but to queue up at agencies.“We tried calling the booking numbers several times but there was no response. Many residents waited for hours to get their refill,” he said.Similar scenes were reported across the city, where consumers lined up with cylinders as concerns over delayed LPG deliveries grew.
