NEW DELHI: The Centre on Monday approved hike in commission rates payable to arthiyas and societies for procurement of wheat and paddy in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan beginning this Rabi Marketing Season (RMS), which starts from this month. The hikes have been made following demands from state govts. The food ministry said a committee was set up, and based on its recommendations, govt has approved the hike. “After revision, the commission to Arthiyas for wheat in Punjab and Haryana will increase from Rs 46 per quintal to Rs 50.7 per quintal, while for wheat in Rajasthan it will increase from Rs 41.4 per quintal to Rs 45.6 per quintal. The commission for paddy will increase from Rs 45.8 per quintal to Rs 50.6 per quintal,” it said. It added that the commission for procurement of wheat will increase from Rs 27 per quintal to Rs 29.7 per quintal, while for paddy, it will increase from Rs 32 per quintal to Rs 35.3 per quintal.
