Lucknow: Issuing a stern warning to anti-social elements against any attempt to disturb peace during the upcoming festive period, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that festivals should remain within the bounds of tradition and any public disorder or provocation will invite strict action under govt’s “zero tolerance” policy.Chairing a high-level review meeting via video conferencing, the CM directed officials to ensure that law and order, communal harmony, and public safety are maintained at all costs.He made it clear that no negligence would be tolerated and every information should be treated seriously.Yogi instructed divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and senior police officials to work in coordination to ensure a peaceful environment across the state.“Large gatherings are expected at temples during Navratri. Authorities must ensure proper arrangements for security, sanitation, crowd management, drinking water, lighting, and healthcare services. Extra vigilance has been ordered at major religious sites and crowded locations,” the CM said.Taking note of criminal incidents reported from various districts, he sought detailed reports on action taken and reiterated that even a single crime could disrupt the overall social environment. He directed officials to act swiftly and firmly against offenders.Referring to incidents like chain snatching, he ordered increased patrolling by PRV-112 vehicles and said that criminals should have the fear of the police. “There should be a visible deterrence. Lawbreakers must think twice before committing a crime,” he said.The CM directed strict compliance with Supreme Court guidelines on loudspeakers at religious places, stating that sound levels should remain within prescribed limits.Any violation should lead to immediate removal of equipment. He also expressed concern over bike stunts and ordered strict enforcement to curb such activities.On essential supplies, the CM instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted availability of LPG cylinders despite global uncertainties. He warned against artificial shortages, hoarding, and black marketing, directing authorities to take stringent action against violators.In view of the proposed visit of the President to Ayodhya and Mathura-Vrindavan, the chief minister asked officials to strictly adhere to protocol and ensure all arrangements are in place.He also reviewed the functioning of stray cattle shelters and directed improvements in their management, including timely fund disbursal, appointment of nodal officers, and ensuring proper fodder and care for cattle.Earlier, the director general of police informed the CM that the police force was making efforts to ensure peaceful conduct of festival with intensified foot patrolling.
