NEW DELHI: Vikram K Doraiswami has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday. Doraiswami, a 1992-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently serving as India’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. According to the MEA, he is “expected to take up the assignment shortly.”The appointment comes at a time when India and China continue to engage diplomatically on bilateral issues, including border and trade-related matters.Doraiswami has previously held several key diplomatic assignments and is regarded as a seasoned officer within the foreign service.
