Lucknow: Amid restrictions on commercial LPG supply, restaurant and hotel owners in the city have warned that the shortage could soon disrupt food services. In a letter to the district magistrate on Thursday, the Lucknow Hotel Guest House Restaurant Owner Association said the supply of commercial gas cylinders has been limited to about 20% of consumption, leaving many establishments struggling to run kitchens. The association, led by its president, Surendra Kumar Sharma, urged authorities to restore supply based on existing consumption records maintained by gas agencies. “All hotels and restaurants depend on commercial cylinders for cooking. With such limited supply, it is becoming difficult to run kitchens,” the association said. Restaurant owners say the impact is already visible on the ground. “We are unable to serve full menus as gas is not available regularly. Customers are getting affected,” said Rajeev Khanna, owner of a restaurant in Hazratganj. Imran Ali, who runs a hotel in Charbagh, said earlier cylinders were delivered within a day of booking which has now extended to three to five days, disrupting operations. “We are managing with limited gas and sometimes switching to alternatives, but it increases cost and reduces efficiency,” said Pankaj Verma, an eatery owner in Aliganj. The association said agencies already have detailed consumption data and should use it to ensure normal distribution without delay. Officials said supply was expected to be restored soon.
