Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of the heavy rains across large parts of the state on Friday and directed officials to immediately carry out an assessment of crop damage so that farmers could be compensated at the earliest.The CM issued directions for all districts to remain on alert mode and instructed district magistrates to personally carry out site inspections to ascertain loss due to the rainfall. “This exercise should not be merely on paper but should be carried out based on the actual ground situation so that farmers can receive accurate and timely assistance,” he said. The CM also directed the Relief Commissioner to maintain direct contact with officers working at the field level and coordinate with them for relief work. He added that all information pertaining to losses of any kind should be reported to the govt at the earliest so that there is no delay in relief operations. Insisting that the state govt stands firmly with the farmers and that in any disaster situation, all possible assistance will be provided to them, the CM directed officials to show sensitivity in their work and ensure that no farmer has to face unnecessary hardship. He reiterated that the process of issuing compensation to farmers should be carried out immediately upon receiving the crop damage assessment. He directed officials to ensure that the payment system is transparent and time-bound so that affected farmers can get relief at the earliest.
