NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has announced the launch of a new postgraduate programme in robotics and artificial intelligence for the upcoming academic session 2026-27. The new course will be offered by the University School of Information, Communication, and Technology.The new course has been launched to fulfill the growing demand for expertise in robotics and artificial intelligence in various fields. The total intake of the course will be 21 seats, and the admissions will be made until March 31, 2026, as in the case of all the university programs.Programme details and industry demandThe demand for robotics and artificial intelligence is increasing in India, as mentioned by Prof. Pushpender Bharti of the USICT of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The demand is increasing as the scope of robotics and artificial intelligence in India is expanding steadily.He also mentioned that the need for professionals, like AI engineers, data scientists, and robotics engineers, is still on the rise. Employment opportunities will be available in established organisations as well as newly formed organisations. In addition, the field is also going to contribute significantly to the development of the economy through technology-based innovations.Eligibility criteria outlinedTo be eligible for the program, students need to secure a minimum of 60 per cent marks in the specified examinations. Eligible candidates for the program include students from disciplines like computer science, information technology, electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.Candidates with postgraduate degrees in subjects like IT, electronics, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, operation research, applied physics, etc.Admission process and selectionAdmissions will be made on the basis of merit prepared from valid GATE scores in the relevant disciplines for the academic session 2026-27. In the event of unfilled seats after the GATE candidates’ merit list is considered, admissions will be made to the candidates who have qualified through the Common Entrance Test conducted by the university.If there are unfilled seats after the merit list of the CET qualified candidates is considered, the unfilled seats will be filled from the merit list of the CUET qualified candidates.
