Lucknow: The prestigious Naushad Samman was conferred on singers Anup Jalota and Surbhi Ranjan at a cultural programme celebrating art, music and excellence, dedicated to the Army. The event was part of Awadh Festival organised by Sangeet Natak Academy UP in collaboration with Hunar Creation Craft Association.The event brought together noted artists and emerging talents like Dipanshi Yadav, Samanta Randhawa, Bisroop Banarjee and Tanmay Mukherjee. Academician Prof S K Nahar wase also felicitated, while Hindi films background singers duo Sameer and Deepali received the ‘Shaan-e-Awadh’ award. Expressing gratitude, Jalota remembered the legendary composer Naushad and thanked the audience for their continued support, saying it is their love that keeps him going. Other award recipients too expressed their happiness at being honoured. Singer Bisroop Banarjee, known for his stint on Indian Idol, said, “I am honoured to be part of this celebration. The energy of the audience and the rich presentations during this fest have inspired me deeply.”The evening concluded with a tribute to the Indian Army and a celebration of Lucknow’s vibrant cultural spirit,said Zafar Nabi.
