Israeli soldiers allegedly tortured a one-year-old child in central Gaza to pressure his father into making confessions during an interrogation, according to a report by Palestine TV.The channel reportedly aired footage showing injuries on the child, identified as Karim, after he was detained by Israeli forces near the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.According to regional news sources, witnesses said the child’s father, Osama Abu Nassar, had already been dealing with trauma after losing a horse he relied on for income. While he was taking his 18-month-old son to buy supplies, he got caught in gunfire near his home. Israeli soldiers then forced him to leave his child on the ground and walk towards a nearby military checkpoint, where he was stripped and interrogated.During this time, the soldiers allegedly tortured the child in front of him. A medical report said the child suffered burns from cigarettes, and a nail was inserted in his leg. It also confirmed marks from pricking. The child was released around 10 hours later and handed back to his family through the International Committee of the Red Cross in Al-Maghazi. However, the father remains in Israeli detention. The family has appealed to international organisations to intervene and secure his release so he can continue receiving medical treatment. The incident comes even as violence continues in Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas implemented in October 2025. According to the Health Ministry, at least 677 Palestinians have been killed and 1,813 injured since then.
