Lucknow: The examination committee (EC) of the Lucknow University on Friday decided that applicants for admission to various courses can file for re-evaluation of their entrance exam answer sheets. For this, they will have to pay a fee of Rs 300.“This step will ensure accuracy, transparency in assessment,” said a varsity official. The committee also approved the ordinance recommending amendments in rules related to use of unfair means in the examination. Now, carrying mobile phones, wireless devices, equipment with bluetooth, electronic gadgets and any unauthorised instruments will be treated as use of unfair means in examination and the student will be booked for cheating. Special flying squads will conduct surprise inspections at exam centres with vice-chancellor approval. A strict penalty system has been introduced, ranging from cancellation of individual papers to expulsion and FIR registration for serious violations. Cases will be reviewed by subject experts and students may appeal to an appellate committee. Collective cheating at a centre may lead to cancellation of the exam and blacklisting of the centre, said the official. All practical exams will be conducted under CCTV surveillance with recordings retained for three months. Each paper will have a main examiner and secondary examiner as required, and 5% of answer sheets will be randomly selected for rechecking before results are published. Answer keys will also be provided. Examiner payments will now be made online through a newly developed module, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
