Lucknow: The Vikas Nagar police arrested a wanted accused for allegedly duping a woman of ₹3.8 lakh on the pretext of providing a job, sexually exploiting her and attempting to induce a miscarriage by administering an intoxicant in a cold drink.Ankur Agarwal (38), originally from Padrauna in Kushinagar and currently residing in Jankipuram, Lucknow, was arrested late on Saturday from outside his residence in Sector F, Jankipuram, following a tip-off.According to police, the case was registered on Mar 1 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66E of the IT Act at Vikas Nagar police station. During investigation, based on the victim’s statement and evidence, sections were revised to strengthen the charges.SHO, Vikasnagar, Alok Singh said the accused lured the victim with false promises of securing a job and fraudulently obtained ₹3.8 lakh.He allegedly established a relationship under false pretences and subjected her to sexual exploitation against her will. When the victim became pregnant, the accused reportedly attempted to terminate the pregnancy by secretly mixing an intoxicating substance in her drink.
