Lucknow: In a case of alleged black marketing of subsidised LPG, a delivery boy was booked after he was caught selling a domestic gas cylinder for ₹3,000 in the Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow on Sunday. The accused, identified as Rinku Kumar, associated with Maa Durga Indane Gas Service, has been booked under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and LPG Control Order. His associate, identified as Chandu, is also under the scanner.According to officials, the incident came to light on Mar 28, after authorities found a video showing the accused demanding ₹3,000 for a domestic cylinder. After negotiation, the deal was allegedly fixed at ₹2,800, and the buyer was asked to meet near Bharwara Crossing. At the spot, the associate arrived with a filled cylinder, but before the transaction could be completed, police were alerted through 112. The team seized one domestic cylinder, marked under the Ujjwala scheme, along with a scooter with a suspicious number plate, and took the accused into custody.Officials said the agency had officially issued only six cylinders for delivery that day, and the seized cylinder was not part of the authorised stock, indicating illegal diversion.SHO Vibhutikhand, Amar Singh, said further investigation is underway to identify the source of the cylinder and uncover a wider network involved in the racket.
