Lucknow: To strengthen the health system in a big way, state govt recently notified the State Health Systems Resource Centre, a body mandated by the Union ministry of health and family welfare.A national body is already in place. The initiative was undertaken by the State Transformation Commission in collaboration with SGPGIMS, Lucknow.“The centre will work in tandem with State Transformation Commission to help the state approach in a scientific way to achieve health sector goals,” said project head and institute’s medical superintendent Prof R Harsvardhan.According to the official order, the centre will work in four key areas to begin with. The first goal relates to supporting strategies to reduce MMR (maternal mortality rate), NMR (neonatal mortality rate), stunting, and improving outcomes.Developing and promoting cleanliness and hygiene-related best practices across medical colleges and hospitals is the second goal, while strengthening systems to ensure availability of quality medicines and promote cost-effective healthcare delivery in medical colleges and district hospitals is the third one.Digital transformation is the fourth listed goal on board. For this, the centre would work to accelerate digitisation of hospital records and expand online healthcare systems.Chairperson, State Transformation Commission, Manoj Kumar Singh, said that the resource centre is critical for a structured and knowledge-driven institutional mechanism, especially when the state is chasing goals for Viksit Uttar Pradesh 2047.Dr Harsvardhan said that a steering committee, comprising eminent domain experts from across Indiahas been constituted with SGPGIMS director Dr RK Dhiman as the chairman.“The committee will guide the centre in prioritising key initiatives, ensuring quality and accountability, and fostering partnerships with national and international stakeholders,” he said.
