Lucknow: Several hostellers of BR Ambedkar Hostel on the second campus of Lucknow University (LU) have been boycotting the hostel mess after insects were reportedly found in meals for two consecutive days.“This is unacceptable. We cannot eat food that is not properly prepared. Finding insects in our meals for two days shows complete negligence. We decided to boycott the mess until proper action is taken and hygiene standards are ensured,” said a resident.Residents also expressed frustration that their repeated complaints have been ignored. One student pointed out that even in Feb, the vice-chancellor inspected the mess in Ganga and BR Ambedkar hostels, but no sincere corrective measures were implemented by the catering staff. LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava said, “The issue has come to the attention of university officials and steps will be conducted to resolve the problem.”
