Lucknow: A bank clerk died when a licensed rifle he was cleaning went off accidentally and the bullet hit him at his resident in Jankipuram area, on Saturday morning, said police.The deceased—Prakash Mishra, 50, was a clerk in Union Bank of India. According to police, the incident occurred around 9 am at his house in Pink City locality of Mirzapur.Preliminary probe suggests Mishra was cleaning his rifle when it went off accidentally. The bullet reportedly entered through his chin and exited from the top of his head, causing his death on the spot. The body was later sent for postmortem.Inspector Vinod Tiwari said a forensic team collected crucial evidence to ascertain the exact sequence of events.Family members informed police that Mishra retired from the Indian Air Force in 2013 and joined the banking sector. He was currently posted at the Aliganj Sector-Q branch of the bank.
