Lucknow: Triggered by the recent death of a Class XII student near Janeshwar Mishra Park—allegedly linked to reckless stunt biking—Lucknow Police have rolled out an extensive, multi-layered enforcement drive to curb dangerous riding practices across the city.Senior officials said dedicated teams, including personnel in plain clothes, have been deployed at identified hotspots where incidents of stunt biking, high-speed racing, and traffic violations by youths are frequently reported. Barricades have been installed at strategic points, and intensive checking drives are underway to take strict action against speeding motorcycles, vehicles operating without silencers, and riders performing stunts on public roads. In a bid to outmanoeuvre violators, police have adopted a dynamic enforcement strategy, directing all Station House Officers (SHOs) and specially constituted “critical corridor teams” to conduct checks by constantly changing locations and timings. This randomised pattern, officials said, is aimed at preventing habitual offenders from predicting police deployment and escaping action. Simultaneously, CCTV cameras installed across major intersections, arterial roads, and public spaces are being closely monitored. Real-time surveillance is being used to identify repeat offenders, track suspicious movements, and gather digital evidence for prosecution. Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Babloo Kumar, said, “These acts are not just violations of traffic laws but pose a direct threat to public safety. In many cases, innocent commuters suffer injuries or even lose their lives due to such reckless behaviour,” a senior officer said.
