Lucknow: Taking cognisance of the continuous rainfall in several districts over the past few days, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to remain in constant touch with farmers and ensure that all support was provided to them.“Given the adverse weather conditions, administrative officers must remain in constant contact with farmers. Unseasonal rains have disrupted farmers’ peace, but the govt stands firmly as their support and will ensure that they do not face undue hardship,” he said.On Tuesday, the CM sought reports from district magistrates concerned on the status in their areas, damage to crops and difficulties being faced by farmers. He directed the DMs to personally visit farmers and also ensure that subordinate officials were active in the field.“Officials must assess crop loss at the earliest and also issue compensation in a time-bound manner. Every effort should be made to minimise the impact of the disaster on farmers. Compensation for loss of life, livestock, injuries, and all affected individuals must be ensured within a fixed time-frame. Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated,” he added.Directing officials to be on alert mode, Yogi has instructed officials of the departments of revenue department and agriculture, and insurance companies to conduct a joint survey of crop loss and inform the govt immediately so that compensation can be issued without delay. He also instructed principal secretary (agriculture) and the relief commissioner to maintain direct communication with field officials and ensure coordination between all departments.
