KANPUR: A 24-year-old woman from the Chakeri area in Kanpur has lodged an FIR accusing her in-laws of forcing her to get Rs 30 lakh in dowry or donate a kidney to her 28-year-old husband.The woman has approached the police with a shocking claim, saying she married a Lucknow man in June 2023, only to discover his family had hidden the fact that his kidneys were damaged. She also accused her husband of having an illicit relationship with another woman.The woman alleged that her life turned hellish on Oct 11, 2024, when she questioned her in-laws about her husband’s health after she came to know that he had been on dialysis since 2022. She claimed that her in-laws not only tortured her, but also pressured her into donating a kidney and demanded Rs 30 lakh in dowry. Fed up with the situation, she left her husband’s house on Oct 11, 2024, and headed back to Kanpur. She also alleged that her in-laws snatched her jewellery.Station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra said that based on a complaint, an FIR has been registered, and action will be taken based on the necessary findings.
