Lucknow: In a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the UP Congress president has called for greater transparency in the upcoming UPSI (sub-inspector) recruitment 2025, besides asking him to increase the number of posts. An official spokesperson said that Rai was moved to write a letter after receiving a representation submitted by candidates in which they highlighted concerns over the recruitment process.“The examination is being conducted after a gap of nearly five years, leading to a sharp rise in applicants, with around 10.77 lakh candidates appearing for the test,” Rai wrote in his letter. He also pointed out that several SI posts in the state police remain vacant and could be filled by increasing the number of posts in the current recruitment cycle. He said that while 9,534 candidates were selected in the 2020-21 recruitment, the number of vacancies this time is “significantly lower”, making it inadequate given current requirements. The candidates have also demanded that scorecards, including normalised and sectional marks, be released along with the written examination results to ensure transparency. They further suggested issuing a waiting list after final selection so that any unfilled posts can be filled promptly.Rai has urged govt to consider these demands, stating that such measures would make the recruitment process more transparent and fairer, while also strengthening law and order by filling vacancies in the police force.
