Kanpur: Kanpur police have revealed that a video of Punjab victim Manjinder—duped of Rs 43 lakh in a kidney racket—was recovered from the mobile phone of accused Shivam Agrawal in the kidney scandal case.Manjinder, a resident of Tarn Taran in Amritsar, alleged that Ahuja Hospital operators Dr Surjit Ahuja, Dr Preeti Ahuja and four other persons took Rs 43 lakh from him in the name of providing a kidney, but his transplant was never carried out. He raised the amount by taking loans.According to the video from Ahuja Hospital located in Maswanpur, Manjinder’s kidney was damaged, and he underwent dialysis for several years. During dialysis in Mohali, he met a young man named Navneet Singh. Navneet introduced Jaspreet, Vikrant and Hasan as his acquaintances and said they would help him in the kidney transplant. After this, Navneet connected him with these people.Subsequently, the accused took Rs 43 lakh from him in multiple installments in exchange for a kidney, and he raised the amount by borrowing from his acquaintances. Even several months after paying the money, the accused did not get his transplant done and kept putting him off every time. He said he lost everything, and the people from whom he borrowed money started demanding their money back.DCP, west, SM Qasim Abidi said, “The police will file an application in court to take ambulance operator Shivam Agrawal on remand. Answers to many questions will be obtained only after taking him on remand. This will help gather information about the person from Punjab whose video was found on his mobile phone. Along with this, interrogation will be conducted regarding when transplants were carried out at Ahuja and Medilife and whose transplants were performed.“
