Lucknow: Construction material dumped for the ongoing grid road project and excavation outside La Martiniere Girls’ College in Hazratganj has narrowed the road stretch between KD Singh Babu Stadium and Moti Mahal Road, causing slow-moving traffic and frequent jams, particularly during peak school and office hours.Commuters said the absence of proper barricading, reflectors and warning signage has made the stretch unsafe, increasing the risk of accidents.“There is hardly any space left to park vehicles. Visitors to the stadium and nearby offices are forced to park randomly on the road, which further chokes traffic,” said Rahul Vishwakarma, a sportsperson at KD Singh Stadium.Residents also said air quality in the area has worsened due to loose debris and constant vehicular movement.Parents said the situation becomes more chaotic during school timings when vans and private vehicles crowd the stretch. “Small children have to move between vehicles and construction piles. It is risky and stressful,” said a parent, Amit Verma.Another resident, Shalini Mishra, said temporary walkways and covering of excavated portions should be ensured to protect pedestrians.Lucknow Municipal Corporation officials said the issue has been noted. “We will inform the agencies concerned to address the problems, ensure commuter safety and complete the work on time,” an official said.
