LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticised BJP MP Ravi Kishan after the latter was reported to have described himself as a “stress buster” for Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. In a post on social media platform X, Yadav questioned the role of elected representatives and accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being disconnected from public concerns. “A member of Parliament is a representative of the people, not a toy of the chief minister. Is this a government or a circus?” he wrote. The Kannauj MP said that while citizens were facing difficulties, leaders in the ruling party appeared to be engaged in what he called “frivolous exchanges”. He also described the reported comment as an embarrassment for Gorakhpur, the constituency represented by Kishan in the Lok Sabha. Referring to the remark, Yadav suggested that the BJP MP could face consequences for publicly implying that the chief minister was under “stress”. He added that public anger, citing alleged corruption and “atrocities” by the government, might be contributing to such stress. The criticism follows media reports quoting Kishan as saying that CM Adityanath enjoys his company and that he acts as a “stress buster” for him. This is not the first time Yadav has targeted the BJP MP. Last year, after Kishan compared Gorakhpur to Spain, the Samajwadi Party leader questioned whether he could locate Spain on the world map.
