As CWC meets today, Stalin slams Centre’s women quota moveNEW DELHI: Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet on Friday to discuss the party’s stance on BJP-led govt’s proposed amendments to the women’s reservation law, even as opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam head and Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin launched a scathing criticism of the central govt’s likely proposal. Congress has expressed concern over the reported govt plan for a “proportionate increase” in Lok Sabha seats, alleging it will disadvantage the southern states, as also the smaller states, to the benefit of northern states. It argued that the governing BJP has scheduled the session amid ongoing assembly elections to influence voting in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Stalin’s criticism of the proposal has raised questions if INDIA bloc will support the bills being brought in Parliament. On X, Stalin called the proposal as “this isn’t reform, this is re-engineering power”.
