NEW DELHI: ED’s headquarters investigation unit in Delhi on Wednesday conducted searches at ten premises in Jalandhar and Gurgaon associated with AAP’s deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Ashok Mittal and Lovely Professional University, in a suspected case of Foreign Exchange Management Act violations.Mittal is chancellor of Lovely Professional University while his son, Pratham, runs associated business schools in Gurgaon.The premises searched included those of Tetr College of Business and Masters’ Union College of Business in Gurgaon, part of Lovely University group.The agency has recorded statements of people associated with the Mittals in connection with suspicious foreign transactions of the educational group. AAP recently replaced Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha with Mittal as its deputy leader in the house, claiming that the former was not raising relevant issues and not backing the party’s stand in Parliament.
