Lucknow: The UP forest department has prepared a plan to check man-monkey conflict, which includes both short-term and long-term measures, said minister of state for environment, forest and climate change (independent charge), Arun Kumar Saxena on Thursday.He said that coordination committees, headed by DMs, have been constituted for the purpose. “Field officials have been asked to hold regular meetings of the committees to implement suggestions and solutions and also monitor the outcome,” he added.The officials will also contact the families affected by the conflict and compensate them as per the provisions made by the govt.To reduce man-animal conflict to zero, the minister asked officials to check human interference in wildlife areas, plant fruit-bearing trees in forest areas and provide water for wildlife throughout the year, especially during summer.While reviewing the preparations for plantation to be done this year, he directed officials to hold discussions with farmers to provide them the saplings conducive to their agroclimatic zones and also of their choice.The department will use modern and hi-tech nurseries along with techniques like tissue culture and high-quality clones to increase the production of saplings and also improve their quality.
