Lucknow: UP’s deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Thursday said that women in India are excelling across sectors, from managing households to flying fighter jets and occupying the highest constitutional offices, reflecting the country’s growing emphasis on women empowerment.Addressing a gathering during the Nari Shakti Vandan Yatra at Krishna Devi Girls Degree College in the Cantonment area, Pathak highlighted the achievements of Indian women, noting their presence even in space missions where they have “hoisted the tricolour with pride”.He said the nation takes immense pride in its “nari shakti”, which continues to break barriers and sets new benchmarks. He also referred to recent developments concerning the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, stating that a special session of Parliament was convened to deliberate amendments to the legislation. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “visionary leadership”, asserting that the move would further strengthen women’s participation in governance.Pathak said the provision of 33% reservation would ensure greater representation of women in policymaking and help address a long-pending demand since Independence.“This step will send a strong message globally that India’s women are second to none,” he added. He also expressed gratitude to the PM for what he described as a historic decision to empower women politically.Several local representatives and dignitaries, including municipal councillors and party functionaries, were present at the event.
