Lucknow: Students of Lucknow University have raised concerns over the quality of drinking water after videos showing high total dissolved solids (TDS) levels in a few water coolers kept at the campus went viral on social media.Student leaders who recorded the readings using a TDS water tool found levels ranging between 364-588 ppm, which they claim are higher than acceptable limits for drinking water which is 150-300 ppm.Several students on social media said that they have stopped using water coolers on campus.“We are avoiding water from coolers completely now because after seeing the readings on the viral videos, it does not feel safe anymore,” said Vivek Mishra.Another student, Priya Singh, said that most of the students are now buying packaged drinking water from the canteen.”LU spokesperson, Mukul Srivastava said, “The administration has not received any formal complaint so far. We have seen the viral videos and are looking into the matter. Necessary checks will be conducted.”
